South Korea’s electronics giant LG Electronics Inc. announced on Sunday that its latest flagship smartphone V20 has hit shelves in the U.S., Canada and Hong Kong on Friday (local time), hoping to steal some of the overseas customers disappointed with fire-prone Galaxy Note7 of its local rival.

The electronics company released the newest smartphone through U.S. mobile carriers including Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint and Canada’s mobile carriers. This is the first release in overseas countries since it was unveiled in Korea on September 29. Unlike its bigger rivals Samsung Electronics and Apple whose latest battery-embedded models had propensity to overheating and catching fire, LG maintains replaceable battery for its premium line.

The smartphone will be also available in the Central and South American countries. “Young people in the U.S. tend to enjoy sharing videos on social networking sites and the smartphone’s video features would gain popularity,” said an official of the company.

The latest smartphone is priced at $672 to $830 (about 770,000 won to 950,000 won) in the North American market, slightly higher than 899,800 won of the smartphone sold in Korea.
