Kosdaq-listed AP Systems Corp. stands out among Korean makers of manufacturing equipment for displays with its stock price more than tripling from last year on robust profit that could reach a record high in the final quarter.

The company closed Wednesday at 25,000 won ($22.29), compared with 7,900 won a year ago. The equipment maker for organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) gained from fast shift to OLED from liquid crystal display for panels for both large and mobile devices.

It is expected to rake in 29 billion won in operating profit for this year, more than doubling last year’s 12 billion won. It is believed to be eyeing more than 20 billion won in the final quarter alone.

AP Systems is primary supplier to Samsung Display, hinging on the panel maker for all Samsung Electronics products as well as its exports, for more than half of its revenue.

Samsung Display was attributable for 62.6 percent of the first-half sales of the parts supplier, compared with 54.1 percent three years ago.

The Samsung company’s aggressive investment to flexible OLED flooded work for the company. AP is expected to reap from 50 billion won to 80 billion in operating profit next year.

Chung Won-suk, an analyst at HI Investment & Securities Co. said that the display equipment maker will expand its business and customer portfolios to include lamination equipments for modules. He estimated sales and operating profit would jump 86 percent and 191 percent to 813.4 billion won and 84.6 billion won, respectively, next year. Samsung Display’s module lines will be built next year, which would require lamination equipments worth up to 1.3 trillion won.

The reorganization demerging the company into holding and operating entities also helped the stock’s value.
