Samsung Electronics face chain civil suits from consumers in Korea and the United States that had been inconvenienced from the recall and following discontinuation of the explosion-prone Galaxy Note7.

Korea’s Harvest Law Office said on Wednesday that it so far have 57 people joining the class action against the electronics giant to demand compensation for 300,000 won ($267) for each.

The law office claimed that buyers of Galaxy Note7 smartphones wasted their time and money, having to visit stores many times for examination on the battery after they were warned of catching fire, replacements and refund.

“Many consumers suffered mental injury from the debacle with Galaxy Note7 and I am sure that we will win the case considering the precedents of damages suits over defective products,” said Peter Young-Yeel Ko, attorney at law of the office.

A series of legal actions are being filed in the U.S. According to U.S. media outlets, three buyers of Galaxy Note7 phones each representing consumers of three states - Nevada, Pennsylvania and California - filed a class action against the U.S. operation of the electronics company. The suit was lodged at the U.S. District Court of New Jersey in Newark where the U.S. operation is located. The three plaintiffs claimed that the electronics company treated consumers wrongly, demanding to pay usage fees until it offered replacement products. They said that they had to stop using the smartphones since the recall announcement late last month and had to wait several weeks to get new products, but nevertheless had to pay usage fees.

Samsung Electronics declined to comment on the lawsuits.
