Renault Samsung Motors Co., the Korean unit of French carmaker Renault Group keeps winning streak in the local mid-sized sedan market with its SM6 sedan ranking as top seller in the private sedan category since its release in March. .
According to the transport ministry’ car registration data, a total of 5,148 SM6 sedans were registered for private use in March alone when it was launched, pushing aside the old rival Hyundai Sonata of which registration marked 3,229 units.
By September, a total of 36,469 units of SM6 sedans were registered as private vehicle, far exceeding the runner-up model that recorded 27,244 registrations.
The SM6 ranked the second in overall mid-sized sedan sector that includes private car, taxi, and others for commercial use by having 38,930 units registered. In the company car sector, such as taxi and rental car, Hyundai Sonata still has dominance.
