The unemployment rate for people with a third level education in South Korea has hit over 30 percent, which means one out of three people with four-year diplomas are currently out of work.
According to Statistics Korea, the number of jobless people graduating from four-year higher-education institutions totaled 315,000 as of the end of September, the first-time ever above the 300,000 threshold. They took up 32 percent of the total 985,000 jobless people in the third quarter ending in September.
When including graduates from two-year programs, the share of unemployed with tertiary education totaled 438,000, or 44.5 percent.
