LG Electronics Wednesday announced its LTE-based vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology has been adopted as a global standard.
It marks the world’s first standard for vehicle communication technology based on the LTE mobile network. In March of last year, the company was chosen as a lead developer of LTE-based V2X technology proposed to the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), a global standardization partnership and since then it successfully realized the development of communication technology to connect between vehicles and between vehicles and pedestrians and infrastructure systems.
Of the technology standard, the 3GPP completed a V2V standard first. LG Electronics expects the vehicle collision technology will become sophisticated and the intelligent transportation service will be far more enhanced with the LTE-based V2X technology.
