LG Household & Health Care forms JV with Farouk Systems

The U.S. firm, founded in 1986 by Faruk Shami, a hairdresser, currently has more than 2,000 employees and exports its line of hair and skin care products under the BioSilk, SunGlitz and Cationic Hydration Interlink Technology (CHI) brands to over 100 countries worldwide. It sponsored major beauty pageants including the Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA from 2003 to 2015.
Farouk Systems’ hair repair products, such as BiokSilk Silk Therapy and CHI Total Protect, are top sellers on home shopping channels and in drug stores in Korea.
LG Household & Healthcare plans to capitalize on the Korean demand through the newly formed venture dubbed LG Farouk Co. by manufacturing and selling Farouk’s hair care products in Korea. At the same time it plans to expand its U.S. footprint by retailing its own premium hair care and skin care goods to hair salons and shops in product distribution partnership with Farouk across the U.S.
