South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. won a 1 trillion won ($895.4 million) worth order from state-run oil company Saudi Aramco and Saudi Electric Company (SEC) to build a combined heat and power (CHP) plant in the Middle East country.

The 1,519-megawatt (MW) power plant, due for completion by late November 2019, will power the Fadhili gas-processing plant located 85 kilometers away in the north of Jubail Port.

Doosan Heavy Industries bid for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project in consortium with France’ s Engie SA, which it recently was notified of winning the bid from Saudi Aramco and SEC.

Kim Hun-tak, chief executive officer (CEO) of Doosan Heavy’s EPC BG, said the latest deal placed the firm on a more solid footing in the Saudi Arabian power industry which expects to build another CHP plant with a capacity of about 40,000 MW by 2024.

Doosan Heavy Industries had built the 2,800-MW Rabigh 2 Power Plant for SEC in Saudi Arabia last April, which won “Power & Water Project of the Year Award” from the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) in Dubai.
