Samsung patents smartphone with bendable display in U.S.

According to industry sources on Tuesday, Samsung Display registered for a patent for the original and manufacturing technology in foldable organic light-emitting diode displays with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on September 27.
The two companies have so far filed for about 30 patents on bendable displays in the U.S. of which 14 have been registered this year. The patents include one for potable smart devices that could be folded in half like a wallet.
Industry watchers are already betting that the world’s largest smartphone maker would unveil a bendable smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain early next year. The company has not made any indications, but does not hide it has been working on the technology for a long time.
