Foreign nationals in South Korea can simply drop in nearby community service centers to report changes to their residential status from Friday, the justice ministry said on Wednesday.
The Seoul government revised the Immigration Control Law and Act on the Immigration and Legal Status of Overseas Koreans to make administrative procedures for foreigners easier.
Foreign residents who previously had to visit immigration office, city hall, or provincial office for reporting alien status changes can go to local community service center instead from Friday. The new administrative services that will be available at community service center includes reports of resident alien’s address change by foreign nationals, domestic residence change reporting by Koreans with foreign nationality, and issuance of certificates on registration and residence.
