Samsung SDS Co., an information and communication technology (ICT) services unit of South Korea’s largest conglomerate Samsung Group, entered into a partnership agreement with global IT services provider Oracle to collaborate in the biometrics business.

“We aim to generate meaningful outcome in security, logistics, marketing, and manufacturing,” said Hong Won-pyo, president of Samsung SDS said on Monday (local time) at a press conference held on sidelines of the Oracle OpenWorld 2016 technology conference in San Francisco.

Under the partnership agreement, Samsung’s Fast Identity Online (FIDO) solution will be connected with Oracle’s integrated account management system Identity and Access Management (IAM) suite. The connected solution is expected to provide stronger security system ungraded with biometrics, such as fingerprint, voice, facial features, and iris recognition solution. The two firms together will accelerate their forays into the financial and public sector, Hong said.

The Korean IT firm will also integrate its retail data management system Nexshop with Oracle’s marketing solution to provide personalized marketing tools based on customer data collected at offline retail stores.

Working together with Oracle will strengthen both online and offline solutions and help Samsung SDS to become a leader in IT solution, said Hong.
