New Shinsegae shopping mall Starfield Hanam sets multiple records

South Korea’s retail conglomerate Shinsegae Group announced on Sunday that its large shopping mall Starfield Hanam due to open on September 9 set quadruple records in the country as the largest shopping mall as a single building in the country, the largest indoor parking lot, the largest scale of dynamic façade and the longest and biggest atypical skylights.

The credit was given after investigation by the Korea Record Institute from July 6.

The shopping mall has 459,617 square meters in total floor area, beating out Shinsegae Department Store’s Centum City Branch in Busan with 417,304 square meters. Its indoor parking lot has 243,824 square meters in gross area for 5,600 cars, ranking first in the number of cars available for parking in the nation. Its exterior wall of the main exit door is decorated with the three-dimensional artwork with 107,000 panels, gaining recognition as the largest in the country.

The window of its ceiling for maximization of natural lighting of the mall has 253 meters in length, the longest in the country, and 9,927 square meters in gross area, the largest as well.

Starfield Hanam is expected to get the certificate for the best records in the four areas early next month.

“Starfield Hanam got recognition for the best records of the possibly best shopping mall in the nation and we would thoroughly prepare for the opening, displaying all out ability,” said Lim Young-lock, vice president of Shinsegae Property Inc.
