The figure was tallied between May 1 and August 20 this year, according to the company Monday.
Increasing single and two-person households spurred sales of compact refrigerators, the company said. According to the Statistics Korea, single-person households stand at 5.11 million, meaning one in every four households is a single-family.
The Praud S equipped with a high efficiency compressor optimizes the flow of refrigerants and occupies a smaller space with a low level of noise, suitable for single or two-person households. With direct cooling, it minimizes temperature variance, leading to excellent moisture maintenance. The lineup of all models consumes less energy.
The early and intense onset of summer marked by raging heat waves which pushed up the demand in energy-efficient home appliances undoubtedly was a boost for the Praud S, the company said.
The lineup first unveiled last year gained popularity among small-sized households and sold a lot more this year. The company will strengthen products for single-family households, the company added.
