Samsung SDS expands mobile security business in Europe

Samsung SDS Co., an information and communication technology (ICT) services unit of South Korea’s largest conglomerate Samsung Group, will join up with European counterparts to expand mobile security solutions business in Europe.

Samsung SDS said on Wednesday that it will support the development of digital banking service of Barclays Bank Plc, the second-largest investment bank in the United Kingdom, together with its affiliate Samsung Electronics Co. Samsung SDS will provide a mobile authentication solution called Fast Identity Online (FIDO) to Barclays while Samsung Electronics, its KNOX mobile security platform.

Samsung SDS has also signed a business agreement with Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) GmbH, Europe’s largest financial and public security solutions provider with more than 160 years’ experience, to jointly promote mobile certification solutions business. Under the agreement, Samsung SDS will provide its mobile bio-verification solution to G&D’s financial customers.

The Korean IT solutions provider is also expected to provide enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution and mobile bio-verification solution to one of British mobile carriers. Samsung SDS will be provided with cloud environment to load its security solution.
