Land value in Jeju Island jumped 5.71 percent this year in the fastest increase across South Korea.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on Wednesday that nationwide land prices gained 1.25 percent on average in the first half of this year, accelerating from1.07 percent growth in the same period last year. Korean land prices have been gaining since November 2010.

All of the lands across 17 cities and provinces gained value with those away from capital strengthening more. Sejong City saw the second biggest rise of 2.1 percent, followed by Daegu with 2 percent, Busan with 1.92 percent, Daejeon with 1.66 percent, Seoul with 1.34 percent and Gangwon Province with 1.34 percent.

Land trade in the first half fell 8.1 percent from the same period of last year when it hit a record high.
