E-Land develops new insulation material

South Korea’s fashion and retail giant E-Land Ltd. said Tuesday that it has developed a new insulation material that will be ready to be used in apparel starting this winter.

The company said its new insulation material, dubbed “Sun Shot Tech,” is developed using nano-coating technology that is applied to semiconductors for the first time in Korea. The new material could raise body temperature up to 1 degree Celsius higher than currently available insulation apparel materials, the company claimed.

E-Land developed the new heating material at its R&BD (Research & Business Development) Center in Vietnam, and the development marked its first success in the center that the Korean firm set up last year at about $5 million. It plans to invest up to 5 percent of its sales in the center.

The new material will be applied to winter jackets of its sports and casual brands including New Balance Korea and Teenie Weenie this winter.
