Baby products have the potential to be the next Korean consumer blockbuster in China with Korean brands having gained consumer confidence and familiarity with beauty and personal care items have a competitive edge in China’s burgeoning market following the relaxation of one-child policy.

According to Hyundai Department Store Group Co.’s online mall Hyundai H Mall Sunday, baby products accounted for 80.9 percent of its Chinese sales in the second quarter this year, more than doubling from 36.7 percent from the same period last year.

The entire sales of baby and children’s products of Hyundai H Mall increased 33 times over the cited period as Korean baby products have become a kind of fad among Chinese young mothers in their twenties and thirties. Diapers are bestsellers.

Favorite names are Yuhan-Kimberly’s Huggies, Kleannara’s Bosomi and Ssangyong C&B’s Beffys and Oboso as Korean brands have earned reputation in product safety and fast and reliable shipping after online purchase.

Korea’s Zero to Seven Inc., a producer and distributor of infants’ and children’s clothing, reported 20 percent monthly growth in Kleannara’s Bosomi diapers on Tmall Global, China’s biggest online shopping platform operated by Alibaba Group Holding.
