Vice President of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) Lee Seung-cheol emphasized on the need for companies and governments of Asia to join forces to exercise greater influence in the international market first through pan-Asia electronics fairs and aviation consortium.

He proposed Asia launch its own version of wireless and electronics trade shows instead of having to unveil new innovations in shows in Las Vegas and European cities during an address to the 7th Asian Business Summit (ABS) held in Singapore on Saturday.

He specifically suggested launch of consumer technology show, aviation consortium like Airbus, joint study in new technologies, and alliance to raise Asian voice in international policies and standards.

Asian companies excel in wireless and electronics and yet they fly to Western cities to showcase their new products. Asia is also one of the biggest markets in aviation but imports aircrafts from the United States and Europe, he said.

Despite its contribution to the global economy, Asia lacks voice in international organizations. Asian companies must also strengthen power by joining forces in new technology development, he said.

The FKI will be hosting next year’s summit in Korea.
