Hyundai Motor to sponsor PGA LA tour Genesis Open starting next Feb

The automaker announced on Tuesday that it would become a new title sponsor for the annual tour held at the Riviera Country Club in LA in every February. A title sponsor is a patron of an event that provides money, goods, or services in exchange for the exclusive right to have the patron’s name appear prominently before the title of the event. The Northern Trust Open would change its name to Genesis Open from next year. The tour will be run by the Tiger Woods Foundation.
The U.S. Open is classified as an upper class tour in scale and popularity among PGA tour tournaments. It has been created in 1926. Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus made his debut as a professional golfer in the tour and Tiger Woods participated in the tour as his first PGA tour.
Next year’s tour under the banner of Genesis Open would be held from February 13 to 19 and it would be aired over a nationwide network through CBS. The automaker expects that it would become a good opportunity to promote the brand of Genesis to tens of millions of golf fans around the world.
Erwin Raphael, general manager of the Genesis brand in the U.S, said that the tour is the most effective means to spread the vision of the Genesis brand.
