It inked a preliminary agreement with Jeollanam-do Province and Jeonnam Agricultural Research & Extension Services (JARES) to jointly carry out experiments on a project dubbed A•C•E Farm, future-oriented farming facility.
Unlike conventional agricultural operations powered by oil and coal, solar energy will be used to supply power in growing greenhouse crops such as mushrooms and tomatoes. Remaining electricity will be stored in the energy storage system (ESS) for later use. The farm will be set up on a field spanning 3,305 square meters in Naju City. KEPCO and JARES will jointly fund the project for the next three years.
KEPCO will work on cooling, heating and energy supply system and JARES will study measures to enhance yield using big data and other IT applications.
