A total of 25 companies will go public on the KOSPI market this year to record the biggest bumper initial public offerings close to 9 trillion won ($7.6 billion). The last time the KOSPI was so abundant in IPOs was in 2010 with 22 companies raising 8.7 trillion won.
Companies preparing for IPO include some big names like Hotel Lotte, Doosan Bobcat and Samsung BioLogics.
“Some large and profitable companies are seeking to go public this year, which may lead to new IPO record, said Kim Won-dae, President & CEO of KOSPI Market during a briefing session for representatives from prominent unlisted companies, arguing it is the best time for companies to go public.
