South Korea’s skincare product maker SD Biotechnologies Co. expanded its facial mask pack manufacturing facility in a move to expand its presence in the U.S. beauty product market.

The company, whose facial mask sheets have won hearts of Chinese consumers, recently added new production lines for its mainstay facial masks at its facility in Incheon with a fresh injection of 80 billion won ($7 million). With the addition, the company could produce up to 1.5 million sheets of facial mask a day.

The company CEO Park Sul-woong said in an interview with the Maeil Business Newspaper that it has been producing average around 1 million sheets of facial mask a day to meet growing demand from China.

The company has previously relied on outsourced manufacturing of its cosmetics products, but it has decided to expand its production capacity in a bid to make aggressive inroads into the U.S. beauty product market by selling its products under its cosmetic brand SNP at both online and brick-and-mortar stores in the country. CEO Park said the company has been shipping its facial mask packs to 450 stores of Ulta Salon - a U.S. beauty chain stores -since last month and aims to provide its products to 1,000 locations by next year.

The cosmetics maker could have entered the U.S. market after introducing its mask packs with different animal designs catered to American consumers, such as lion and Koala printed packs for the U.S. market versus panda printed ones for China.

Thanks to its country-specific strategy, exports accounted for 80 percent of the company’s total sales last year.
