South Korea’s shaved ice machine manufacturer AllThatIce inked a contract with Indonesian kitchen appliance distributor Sinar Mas Buana to supply ice shavers, a move that is expected to pave the way for the Korean company to sell its products in the Southeast Asian market.

AllThatIce said on Sunday that under the contract, it would ship at least 200 units of commercial shaved ice machines, worth $500,000, to the Indonesian company every year. AllThatIce has exported its ice shavers to China, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore since last year, but it has supplied the products for trial use, not under a long-term export term. It is the first time for the company to ever supply a large volume of its ice shavers to a foreign retail company that supplies commercial kitchen appliances to large restaurant chains and coffee shops for a committed time. The Korean ice machine maker expects its advancement into Indonesia would help it make inroads into the Southeast Asian market.

AllThatIce’s shaved ice machine makes powdered ice within just 30 seconds by simply pushing a button. The powdered ice made by the ice shaver is also referred as snowflake ice in the industry because of its soft and fine ice particles, and it provides better texture and melts slowly. The company’s ice shaver is also more hygienic thanks to the stainless steel body and a built-in water filter, the company claims. “Hot Southeast Asian countries are sensitive to hygiene, and prefer ice makers using water rather than milk that can be easily spoiled,” said Ahn Hyun-jin, head of marketing team at AllThatIce.

AllThatIce, established in 2014 by Chief Executive Officer Bae Hui-bong and other refrigerator specialists with more than 30 years of experience, has been making great efforts to make inroads into overseas markets with ice shavers.
