Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., a leading power equipment maker in South Korea, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China’s state-owned China Nuclear Industry Maintenance Co. to cooperate on nuclear power plant maintenance and operations, paving the way for the Korean company to make inroad into China’s nuclear power plant operations and maintenance (O&M) service market.
China Nuclear Industry Maintenance is the largest O&M service provider in China overseeing 30 units of nuclear power plants that are currently in operation in China.
According to Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction on Thursday, under the MOU terms, the Korean company will collaborate with the Chinese partner in 10 special O&M services including replacement of main units such as a steam generator, as well as dismantlement and assembly of reactor coolant pumps.
