Foreign luxury fashion brands rush to make impressive statements in South Korea, opening or expanding their flagship boutiques on the luxury fashion street in Cheongdam in southern Seoul that has recently seen the rising tide of young and hip shoppers.

Cheongdam Street that has regained some of its lost fame with the opening of new, extravagant flagship boutiques of Burberry and Dior last year added more glitz with the renewal opening of Omega’s flagship store last month.

While Chanel and Cartier are preparing to open their glamorous flagship stores on the street in the second half of this year, Kenzo, luxury fashion brand imported by the global fashion division of Lotte Shopping Co., opened its flagship boutique across the House of Dior on Tuesday, a few months earlier than originally planned amid intensifying competition to win hearts of hip shoppers visiting the street.

Situated in the first and second floors of the flagship store building, Kenzo offers products for men such as Homme Kenzo, as well as products for women and bags. The store displays products made in collaboration with Disney’s Jungle Book, slated for release in the middle of April.

MCM will also celebrate the renewal opening of its flagship shop on the street on Friday after a three-month-long remodeling. The five-story MCM HAUS with one underground floor was designed by Neri & Hu, a group of architects who designed Sulwhasoo’s flagship store near Dosan Park.
