South Korea’s second largest daily deal site Ticket Monster Inc. has drawn investment worth 47.5 billion won ($41 million) from the nation’s leading game software company NHN Entertainment Corp. that offers mobile payment service Payco. The partnership goes beyond capital investment for business synergy in online retail and pay service on mobile platforms.
Ticket Monster CEO Shin Hyun-sung on Sunday said the company secured funding from NHN as part of its pledge last year to draw investment worth 300 billion won.
He said the linkup is more meaningful as a win-win business strategy for both mobile service providers.
The e-commerce provider plans to branch out further online by joining up with various other companies, he said adding that the company is in talks with other companies for strategic investment.
NHN expects its presence in online community could expand with easier accessibility of its mobile pay system for shoppers on Ticket Monster platforms.
