South Korea’s state-run utility firm Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) and wireless carrier SK Telecom Co. will together develop wireless charging technology for electric vehicles and jointly run a center to cultivate intelligent driving solutions and services for EVs.

The two companies said Tuesday they will work on the wireless charging technology by their converging electric power and communications technologies. They aim to develop the wireless charging solution that will allow EVs to be charged wirelessly when parked on an empty charging lot.

KEPCO and SK Telecom also agreed to jointly develop Vehicle to Infra (V2I) technology that will enable cars to promptly respond to unexpected situations by receiving traffic, weather and road information through communications between a vehicle and a device installed in roads and other infrastructures.

Another solution they will work together is Vehicle to Home (V2H) that will enable electric energy stored in EVs to be used at households with energy storage system (ESS).
