Kwon Oh-Hyun, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics Co., in charge of the Device Solutions (DS) division of the electronics giant, ranked first in annual salary among executives in listed companies with his paycheck reaching 14.95 billion won ($13.2 million).

He replaced the previous income record of 14.57 billion won by Shin Jong-kyun, president and CEO of IT and Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics, according to the company`s disclosure statement to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) on Wednesday. Shin’s earnings was cut by a third to 4.8 billion won last year with far less incentives from the previous year due to poor performance in the smartphone business.

Compensation packages at Samsung Electronics hinge on the performance in each division. Samsung Electronics last year raised an operating profit of 12.86 trillion won from its semiconductor division, up 4.05 trillion won from the previous year. Operating profit from its smartphone division decreased more than 4 trillion won to 10.16 trillion won.

Kwon pocketed 4.84 billion won in bonus on top of his usual annual salary of 2.08 billion won. Samsung Electronics paid him special allowance of 8.03 billion won for securing the base for future growth by building the next-generation fab in Pyeongtaek.

Chung Mong-koo, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, earned 9.8 billion won in total last year - 5.6 billion won from Hyundai Motor Co. and 4.2 billion won from Hyundai Mobis Co. His compensation decreased 11.77 billion won from 21.57 billion won in 2014. Chung got 11.56 billion won including severance pay and salary of the first quarter when he retired from registered director of Hyundai Steel Co. in 2014. Chung Euisun, vice chairman of Hyundai Motor, got paid a total of 2.47 billion won including 1.87 billion won from Hyundai Motor and 600 million won from Hyundai Mobis. Kwak Dong-shin, vice chairman of Hanmi Semiconductor Co. got fatter compensation than owners of large conglomerates. He got 11.68 billion won in annual salary last year. “We gave him retirement pay worth 8.36 billion won in advance during the second quarter of last year,” said the company.

Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin received 4.83 billion won from its listed units last year. He got 2 billion won from Lotte Chemical Corp. including 1.5 billion in salary and 500 million won in bonus. He got paid 1.53 billion won from Lotte Shopping Co. and 1.3 billion won from Lotte Confectionary Co. Chairman Shin also received 1 billion won in salary from Hotel Lotte Co.
