Innstek Inc., South Korean metal 3D printing technology firm, said on Thursday it struck a deal to export its metal 3D printers to Europe, a move that is expected to help the Korean company to make entry into other foreign countries.

The DMT 3D metal printer that will be shipped to Europe under the latest deal is developed based on the indigenous 3D printing technology of Innstek, which is the nation’s sole developer that has succeeded in commercializing metal 3D printers, according to Innstek. Only a handful of European and American companies are capable of the production of metal 3D printers, the company said.

Innstek expects the latest deal would pave the way for the Korean company to make inroads into other foreign markets such as the United States.

Innstek is led by CEO Sun Doo-Hoon, son-in-law of South Korea’s large conglomerate Hyundai Group Chairman Chung Mong-koo. CEO Sun is the husband of Hyundai Group Chairman’s eldest daughter Chung Sung-yi, who is an advisor at Hyundai-affiliated advertisement agency Innocean Worldwide Inc.
