South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will run a Korean pop culture academy at 20 Korean cultural centers across 18 countries from March to September with the aim to spread the Korean Wave, or Hallyu.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on Sunday that people in 18 countries including the United States, China and France, will have chances to learn Korean pop songs and dances, as well as dramas, movies and food.

Here is the course information: Two elementary courses at the center in Shanghai, China between March and June; an intermediate course at the Indian center between March and April; one elementary course and one intermediate course at the French center from May to June; elementary and intermediate courses at the Mexican center from June to August; an elementary course at the Nigerian center between June and August; and elementary and intermediate courses at the centers in Washington, New York and Los Angeles from June to September.

The elementary course would teach overall Korean culture including Korean dramas, movies and foods for one week, singing for two weeks, dancing for two weeks and Korean pop-music audition preparation for one week. The ministry plans to expand the program next year if it draws much attention.
