South Korea’s leading power equipment maker Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. formally signed a $560 million contract with Electricity Vietnam (EVN) to build an extension plant for the Vinh Tan 4 thermal power plant facility in Hanoi on Thursday.

The company in January initially won the order to add the 600 MW thermal power plant to the Vinh Tan 4 thermal power facility it already obtained from the Vietnam’s state power company in 2013. The new plant will be built in Binh Thuan, 230 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City.

The company won the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the additional thermal power plant, which is aimed to be completed by February in 2020.

Since Doosan first won a 1.4 trillion won contract to build a thermal power plant in Vietnam in 2010, it has increased total orders in the Southeast Asian country to around 7 trillion won over the last five years.
