After a four-year hiatus, key representatives from Korean and Chinese businesses met offline to enhance supply chains and collaborate on initiatives addressing carbon neutrality.

On Wednesday, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) co-hosted the “4th Korea-China Business Leaders and Former Senior Government Officials Dialogue” with the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) at Grand Walkerhill in Seoul. The Korea-China business dialogue was launched in 2018 as a platform involving government and private sectors.

Yoo Il-ho, the chairman from the Korean side and a former deputy prime minister, emphasized in his opening remarks, “Both countries need to explore new approaches for future cooperation, particularly in areas such as climate change and digital trade.” Both delegations issued a joint declaration where they pledged to reduce uncertainties between the two countries and strengthen economic collaboration.

The declaration encompassed supply chain cooperation for materials and components, early conclusion of the follow-up negotiations on services and investment in the Korea-China FTA, medical and healthcare collaboration, efforts toward carbon neutrality to address climate change, collaborative initiatives in digital trade responses, and researching how to create synergy in Korea-China economic cooperation.
