SK telecom Co. announced on Wednesday that it is developing a service to measure congestion on the national railway system using telecommunications big data in collaboration with the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL).
Combining SK telecom’s telecommunications big data with KORAIL’s real-time train and transportation card information, the collaboration aims to derive and disclose real-time congestion data for the country’s high-speed railway system.
Initially focusing on the congested sections of the Seoul metropolitan area’s subway lines 1, 3, and 4 operated by KORAIL, the service will progressively expand to cover other subway lines. Citizens will be able to access to the data via SK telecom’s AI assistant ‘A.’ and the KORAIL Subway Talk app.
SK telecom said it will continue to take the lead in solving social issues like traffic congestion by using its telecommunications big data and AI technology.
