Samsung Electronics introduces eco-friendly battery packs

Samsung Electronics announced the release of two battery packs, or back up batteries for mobile phones, made from recycled materials on Tuesday.

The battery packs are equipped with USB-C charging ports based on the USB PD 3.0 standard and incorporate 30 percent recycled plastic materials that are certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent testing laboratory in the United States.

Available in beige, both models can charge up to three devices simultaneously.

The “PD Battery Pack 20,000mAh” supports wired charging with a maximum speed of 45W, while the “PD Wireless Charging Battery Pack 10,000mAh” supports both wired and wireless charging with a maximum charging speed of 25W. The 10,000mAh model costs 55,000 won ($41) and the 20,000mAh model 66,000 won.

Samsung Electronics also said it fully activated the product production line at its Gwangju plant due to the success of the “Bespoke AI Combo” all-in-one washer-dryer.

The Bespoke AI Combo sold over 1,000 units within three days of its release and topped the 3000-unit mark in cumulative sales within 12 days.

The Bespoke AI Combo allows users to wash and dry clothes simultaneously without the need to move laundry between machines, which takes up 40 percent less installation space compared to having separate washer and dryer units.
