Brandworks Korea Inc., a brand incubator subsidiary of CJ ENM Corp., announced Tuesday that it secured the domestic operational rights for the U.S. comfort shoe brand Rockport earlier this month.
Established in 1971, Rockport has gained popularity worldwide across diverse age groups for its practical yet sophisticated designs.
In Korea, the brand operates around 110 stores primarily in department stores and premium outlets.
The decision to acquire Rockport’s local business rights stems from Brandworks Korea’s positive outlook on the brand’s future growth potential, owing to Rockport’s distinct identity in high-quality functional footwear, the Korean company said.
Brandworks Korea has been focusing on brand business in the fashion and lifestyle categories since its launch earlier this year.
Currently, the company operates brands like Odense & Legodt (home living), Brooks Brothers (men’s fashion), Pyrenex Home & Brooklyn Works (lifestyle).
According to CJ ENM, since Odense and Brooks Brothers were absorbed into Brandworks Korea, transactions have shown significant growth, exceeding a 40 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
“Leveraging Rockport’s extensive network of stores will enhance our offline operational capabilities, contributing to the overall growth of the brands within Brandworks Korea’s portfolio,” said an official from CJ ENM.
