LS Cable & System develops advanced 5G-grade PoE cables

LS Cable & System, South Korea’s leading cable manufacturer, on Monday announced the release of 5G-grade Power over Ethernet (PoE) cables capable of supporting the world’s highest communication speeds.

PoE enables the simultaneous transmission of data and power through a single cable. The newly introduced product, “Simple Wide 2.0,” supports communication speeds of 5 gigabits per second (Gbps) and 100 watts (W) of power over a maximum distance of 180 meters.

Previously, the highest performance was at 1 Gbps and 30W within a 200-meter range.

The 5G-level communication speed allows for high-definition video streaming and data backups in applications like IP cameras, surveillance camera systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The power capacity of the new product is also an industry-leading 100W, enabling the operation of high-performance features such as motion detection in surveillance camera systems.

According to the company, installing these cables can lead to a cost reduction of 40 percent to 50 percent compared to optical cables, eliminating the need to separately install power cables and outlets.

The company expressed optimism, saying that this new product can replace expensive optical cables previously used in multi-channel cameras and high-definition surveillance camera systems.
