OpenAI has postponed the launch of the GPT store, a platform for trading GPT, to 2024. The company had planned to release the store in December, as announced at its developer conference the month before, where it unveiled features such as the GPT builder allowing ChatGPT users to create their own GPT.

The GPT store works like an app store where individually created GPTs can be traded.

OpenAI had an eventful past week due to the ouster and subsequent return of CEO Sam Altman, which caused the delay. GPTs are programs that allow individuals unfamiliar with programming to create customized GPTs through language-based descriptions and simple file uploads, and there was high anticipation for the GPT store’s potential to cultivate a vibrant chatbot ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Google postponed the release of Gemini, an artificial intelligence (AI) intended to rival OpenAI’s GPT, to January 2024. This delay reportedly stemmed from the AI’s inability to generate adequate responses in non-English languages, the Information reported.
