South Korean cosmetics maker Amorepacific Corp. won an international organic cosmetics certification for its cosmetic ingredients extracted and processed from camellia.
According to the company’s announcement on Friday, it was awarded the COSMetic Organic Standard (COSMOS) certification for three ingredients developed in-house: RE.D Flavonoid, AgeRefect, and Camelloxil. These ingredients, derived from camellia, have high efficacy, according to the company.
COSMOS is internationally recognized as an integrated certification for organic and natural cosmetics. Compliance with principles such as respecting biodiversity, responsible use of natural resources, environmentally friendly production, and processing practices is required for obtaining COSMOS certification.
Earlier in June 2023, the Korean beauty maker also developed technology for manufacturing multi-functional skin functional materials by upcycling camellia oil seeds byproducts, reducing carbon emissions in the manufacturing process, which also received green certification.
