Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee

South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. celebrated its 54th anniversary ceremony at its headquarters in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province on Wednesday, the company said.

The event was attended by around 400 executives and employees, including Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee and the heads of the Device eXperience (DX) and Device Solutions (DS) divisions.

In his speech marking the event, Han expressed gratitude to the employees for their hard work, emphasizing the importance of technology and quality, customer experience and value, and highlighting preparation for the future. “Technology and quality are our primary competitive advantages that we must always protect,” he said. “Even as times change, technological leadership remains Samsung Electronics’ top value, and quality is an essential core competency that we cannot compromise.”

“In times of economic downturn, it is easy to focus on short-term results, but we must use it to further develop Samsung Electronics’ inherent DNA of challenge and innovation, and investment in securing technological superiority should always be our top priority,” Han added.

The vice chairman also made a commitment to become a company that creates the best customer experience and value. “We should connect our various products well enough to provide greater value and lead the way for future lifestyles,” he said, emphasizing the need for all employees to work together as ‘One Samsung’ across organizational boundaries to become a customer-centric company.

Han also stressed the importance of expanding the company’s search for new businesses to lay the foundation for sustainable growth. “Let’s actively explore new businesses that can drive our future growth rather than solely concentrating on the businesses we have been performing well in thus far.” He also encouraged innovation in operational systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) and data to increase productivity and efficiency across the management.

Executive Chairman Jay Y. Lee was not in attendance but sent a video message at the company’s 50th anniversary in 2019, and the ceremony was centered around the company’s employees.
