Apple Inc. hosted an online event on Monday, under the theme, “Scary Fast,” where the U.S. tech giant unveiled its latest generation of M3 computer chips.

The new chipset is set to power the next wave of Apple computers, including iMacs and MacBooks.

The M3 family consists of three variations ? the base M3, M3 Pro, and high-performance M3 Max.

The chips were made using the 3-nanometer manufacturing process, allowing more transistors to be packed into a smaller space and improving speed and efficiency.

Apple is believed to have produced its M3 semiconductors on TSMC’s 3-nanometer process.

According to Apple, the new iMacs boast up to 30 percent faster speed in productivity apps like Safari browser and Excel and up to 50 percent more frames in games, compared to the previous generation.

For the MacBook Pro, the M3 chip family delivers up to 2.5 times the rendering speed of the M1 chips, while the CPU performance cores and efficiency cores are up 30 percent and 50 percent, respectively, over the M1.

The M3 Pro and Max are 40 percent and 250 percent faster than the regular models, respectively, with 22 hours of battery life.

It has been nine months since Apple introduced a new MacBook Pro in January, and two years and six months since an iMac upgrade in April 2021.

Apple has reduced the price of its entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro to $1,599 from $1,999. The price of the iMac 24 remains at $1,299. The new devices will be available for purchase in 27 countries and regions, including the United States, starting from Nov. 7.
