Kia Corp. has announced that pre-orders will be available for the third-generation model of its signature midsize sedan, the K5, or “The New K5,” starting on Wednesday.

The latest K5 model, set to be officially launched in November 2023, offers a higher product quality compared to previous models, features a futuristic and dynamic design, and has a variety of advanced features, according to the automaker. Both the interior and exterior reflect Kia’s design philosophy, “Opposites United,” to form a creative fusion of contrasting concepts.

The front daytime running lights (DRL) emphasize strength and are futuristic in the company’s reinterpretation of its “star-map signature lighting.” The interior space features a panoramic curved display that connects a 12.3-inch cluster and the next-generation infotainment system, along with climate control, providing an elegant and open space through this combination of technology and a horizontal design.

The in-car entertainment system also offers streaming services, allowing passengers to enjoy video and high-quality audio content. It incorporates a premium 5.1-channel sound system from U.S.-based Krell Industries Inc. to enhance the immersive experience. Other advanced features include a digital key, front and rear built-in cameras, an electronic toll payment system, and fingerprint authentication.

In terms of comfort and safety, Kia has optimized the front and rear suspension of the new K5 to effectively absorb road vibration and impacts, while incorporating safety and convenience features such as an electric safety power trunk, a vibration warning steering wheel, side parking distance warning, and rear parking collision prevention assist.

The K5 will be available in four models: 2.0 gasoline, 1.6 gasoline turbo, 2.0 gasoline hybrid, and 2.0 liquefied petroleum injection (LPi), with each model offering three trim options. Kia’s plan is to initially launch the gasoline, gasoline turbo, and LPi models next month, with the hybrid model to be introduced later after being certified, with price advantages from tax benefits applied to green vehicles.

The automaker is confident that its latest sedan will provide a satisfactory driving experience for younger drivers as well.

After the model’s debut in 2010, Kia released second generation in 2015 and the third generation in 2019.
