South Korean digital solutions provider SK Inc. C&C signed a business agreement on Tuesday with leading domestic automated external defibrillator (AED) companies to offer an integrated control service based on Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies, according to the company.

The signing ceremony took place in Seongnam-si in the greater Seoul area and was attended by executives from AED companies, including Mediana Co. President Kang Dong-won, Nanoomtech Co. Chief Executive Officer Choi Moo-jin, RadianQbio CEO Kim Beom-ki, and LUCM Co. CEO Nam Seung-min, alongside Yoon Dong-joon, head of SK C&C’s healthcare group.

In collaboration with the AED manufacturers, SK C&C has developed a service that enables real-time monitoring of AEDs and surrounding devices both inside and outside buildings through an IoT-based remote control. The service is provided through a digital platform that combines AEDs and IoT devices, allowing remote monitoring via their wireless communication and monitoring system.

SK C&C plans to expand the services beyond remote monitoring, offering emergency automatic notifications, regular reports, on-site inspections, consumable replacements, and CPR training, among others, to enhance emergency responses.

The company also intends to broaden the service range to include oxygen respirators and fire extinguishers in addition to emergency medical devices. The company seeks expansion into international markets by collaborating with domestic companies’ overseas branches and multinational corporations across Asia.

“We plan to continue expanding the service range of our healthcare business process outsourcing services by developing various services that incorporate digital technology while pursuing global business opportunities,” the company’s healthcare chief said.
