South Korea’s flag carrier Korean Air Lines Co. announced Monday that it will attend the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition 2023 (Seoul ADEX 2023) that will be held at the Seoul Airport from October 17 to 22.

Seoul ADEX is the country’s largest defense exhibition participated by 550 companies from 35 countries. The event is co-hosed by the Korea Aerospace Industries Association, the Korea Defense Industry Association, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and sponsored by the Ministry of Defense.

Korean Air will unveil its roadmap to become an entity that encompasses broader sectors, such as the development of launch vehicles and military aircraft.

At its outdoor booth, Korean Air will showcase its aircraft and equipment, including medium-to-long altitude unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), launching pads, and ground control vehicles.

The carrier will use its indoor booth to introduce advanced defense technology, such as multi-purpose stealth UAVs and hardly detectable low probability of intercept (LPI) unnamed aircraft.

The company has stepped up its presence as a leading manufacturer of UAVs, leveraging its aerospace segment. It became the first domestic carrier to obtain UAV Form Certificate for military use in 2014 and Airworthiness Certification for surveillance purposes in 2018.

The airline has also conducted research and development in stealth and space vehicle technology.

The company has been operating the largest maintenance center in the Asia-Pacific region since 1979 where it performs maintenance, repair, and operation while enhancing the performance of over 5,000 military aircraft for both the Korean and US armed forces.

“Korean Air will continue to play a leading role in bringing the country’s aerospace and defense sectors to the next level by taking the lead in developing core technology,” the company said.
