South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced Wednesday that it will take measures to recall 14,057 vehicles of 21 different models produced or imported and sold by eight companies, including Kia Corp., Mercedes-Benz Korea Ltd., GM Korea, Tesla Korea, and Toyota Korea, due to identified manufacturing defects.
Relevant vehicle owners can check whether their cars are subject to the recall and learn more about the specific manufacturing defects by entering their vehicle registration and identification numbers on the ministry’s automobile recall center website.
Kia’s large electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) EV9, with a production count of 8,394 units, has been found to have a software design error in the rear-wheel drive electric motor control unit. Corrective measures for the issue will begin on Thursday.
