Danggeun Market, a hyperlocal secondhand trading platform in South Korea known as Karrot overseas, has widened its territory to become a channel for small businesses to attract customers by offering a reservation feature to the business profiles of beauty and hair salons.

Business profiles on the application can be created without a fee. The feature is highly sought among small beauty and hair salons that target local consumers as it automatically shows up in the user neighborhood tab.

According to Danggeun Market, the number of beauty and hair shops has increased by 65 percent in June from a year ago. The search volume for keywords such as “nails,” “eyelashes,” or “beauty salon” has also increased by 54 percent over the past year, indicating an increase in the number of consumers using Danggeun Market to find beauty and hair shops near them.

“Nail shops, beauty shops, and hair salons have regular customers who visit them on a regular basis, so many people prefer to go with shops in their neighborhood,” said an official from the app.

Since beauty salons that provide eyelash services and nail shops are mostly run by one person, it is difficult to check customer calls or texts during the service, making a reservation feature essential.

In fact, 75 percent of beauty and hair businesses that registered their business profiles have received reservations through the profile feature.

“With the business profile’s booking feature, customers don’t have to deal with the inconvenience of being unreachable, and businesses can manage their schedules without confusion,” the company said.
