South Korea’s top Samsung Electronics Co. and Hyundai Motor Co. have teamed up in the field of in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), expanding their partnership from display, camera modules, and sound systems to chips.

Samsung Electronics announced Wednesday that it will provide its premium IVI processors for Hyundai Motor cars from 2025.

Samsung Electronics’ Exynos Auto V920 is an automotive processor for advanced IVI systems. It offers drivers real-time driving information and incorporates entertainment features, such as high-definition multimedia playback and high-end game operation.

The processor, equipped with 10 automobile-use central processing units (CPUs) produced by British chipmaker Arm Ltd, enables 1.7 times improved processing performance than its predecessor model.

The latest collaboration has made the partnership between Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor more full-fledged.

There are growing expectations that the joint work sets an example of collaboration for future cars, such as the one between Japanese electronics maker Sony Group Corp. and automaker Honda Motor Co.

“We believe this collaboration will help us to solidify our leadership in the IVI processor market,” said Pyee Jae-geol, executive vice president of system LSI at Samsung Electronics.
