South Korea’s major game developer Netmarble Corp. will roll out three new games that are easy and fun to play in the third quarter, with hopes that the releases will help improve its poor earnings performance.

In a media showcase held in Seoul on Thursday, Netmarble introduced three new games that will be released every month from July. The games are - “Tower of God: New World,” “Grand Cross: Age of Titans,” and “Seven Knights Idle Adventure.”

“The new games are similar in that they have an outstanding storytelling feature that makes good use of each intellectual property,” said Young-sig Kwon, chief executive officer of Netmarble. “They are also easily accessible games.”

Kwon added that the game publisher will achieve “valuable results” at home and abroad as there are many elements for the games to be loved by the people, such as presentation and strategy.

The game, Tower of God: New World, developed by Netmarble N2 based on the webtoon “Tower of God,” will be the first to be released in July. The collectible role-playing game (RPG) is unique in that it allows gamers to enjoy the game as if they are watching an animation.

Grand Cross: Age of Titans, a strategy game developed by Netmarble F&C, is the first publication that is based on its own intellectual property, “Grand Cross.” The game allows users to engage in a battle with each other by training military forces.

“In addition to a game, we plan to expand Game Cross into a webtoon and webstory as well as a drama and film,” said Seo Woo-won, chief executive officer of Netmarble F&C.

Seven Knights Idle Adventure, developed by Netmarble Nexus, is an incremental game based on Netmarble’s popular IP “Seven Knights” characters. The game is expected to be released globally in September.

Industry insiders note that Netmarble is hoping to improve its poor performance with the new releases.

Netmarble has posted operating losses for five consecutive quarters. The game publisher posted an operating loss of 108.7 billion won ($82.8 million) last year, falling into the red for the first time in 10 years. Netmarble also suffered an operating loss of 28.2 billion won in the first quarter.
