Hanwha Aerospace Co., the company involved in the production and assembly of South Korea’s homegrown space rocket Nuri, has unveiled a new project emblem and a uniform ahead of the third launch slated for Wednesday.

On Monday, the company introduced two versions of the 2023 Nuri Emblem, representing the company’s future vision for space missions, along with a uniform featuring the emblems.

“The creation of the new emblems aims to share Hanwha’s spirit of challenge in the uncharted territory of space and to wish for the success of the third Nuri launch with the nation,” the company said in a statement.

The emblems consist of two designs, a circular shape and a shield shape. The circular emblem symbolizes sustainability through space missions. The Nuri rocket, penetrating the center, represents the bridge connecting Earth and space, while the stars represent the dedicated researchers and engineers in the Korean space industry, according to Hanwha Aerospace.

The shield-shaped emblem takes inspiration from a shield that symbolizes being at the forefront of the battlefield, with the Moon and Mars placed together as the future exploration targets.

These two emblems have been incorporated into the uniform of Hanwha’s project team. The uniform was designed in collaboration with Song Ja-in, a Korean designer who headed the costume designs for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

The unveiling of the Nuri Emblem reflects Hanwha Aerospace’s commitment to advancing in the space industry and its aspirations for successful space missions in the future.

“We want to share Hanwha’s determination to challenge the field of space with the public,” said a Hanwha Aerospace official.

In addition, Hanwha Aerospace has entered into discussions with South Jeolla Province and Goheung County to establish space launch infrastructure. On May 19, the company signed a tripartite agreement for cooperation on the establishment of “Space Launch Vehicle Industry Cluster and Goheung National Space Launch Complex.”
