LGES, Qualcomm to explore battery diagonostic system

LG Energy Solution (LGES) Inc. will collaborate with U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. in a joint project for advanced battery management system (BMS). The collaboration will engage Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions in the development of advanced BMS software.

The Snapdragon Digital Chassis is a set of cloud-connected platforms for telematics, connectivity, and driver assistance. LGES will use this collaboration to build a new BMS diagnostic system that supports both hardware and software, both of which are powered by artificial intelligence.

The battery diagnostic system will leverage computing capabilities of the high-performance Snapdragon Digital Chassis platforms within the vehicle‘s system-on-chip (SoC). With computational power that is 80 times more powerful than conventional systems, this upgraded system will be powered by battery diagnostic algorithms. The advanced BMS system also works even when it is not connected to a server.
