South Korea’s leading department stores Lotte, Shinsegae, and Hyundai are set to kick off spring discount events for more than next two weeks starting Friday.

Lotte Department Store announced that all of its outlets will engage in their regular sale event between March 29 and April 14.

Over 300 brands spanning sports, beauty, fashion, living, and more will participate in the event, offering discounts of up to 50 percent along with various purchase benefits.

Particularly catching the eye is the Super Price event featuring discounted products essential for outdoor activities like camping and picnicking.

Notable items include National Geographic’s WALLACE Lightweight Stretch Windproof Jacket priced at 99,000 won ($73.63).

During the same period, Shinsegae Department Store will hold the Shinsegae Members Fiesta, offering discounts of up to 65 percent on products from over 300 brands.

Women’s fashion brand W Concept will present discounts ranging from 10 to 30 percent on jackets, dresses, and more.

Around 20 handbag brands including DAKS, COURONNE, JOY GRYSON, and hazzys will also offer popular items at a 20 percent discount.

Hyundai Department Store will launch the Spring Sale, offering discounts of 10 to 30 percent on products from around 200 brands.

From March 29 to April 4, customers can enjoy discounts of up to 40 percent on about 20 outdoor food items such as hanwoo sirloin steak, strawberries, mangoes, and beef jerky.

The simultaneous initiation of discount promotions by the big 3 department stores reflects a strategic move to meet the surge in demand for related products due to increased outdoor activities in April.

According to Lotte Department Store, last year’s April sales in the leisure, sports, and beauty categories surged by 20 percent, 10 percent, and 10 percent, respectively, compared to the same period a year ago.
